International Women’s Day: Celebrating the Brave and Inspiring Women

Posted by

Success does not always come on a silver platter. Even if it does, you have to be courageous enough to stretch your hands to get it. Sometimes, what can stop you are your own fears and insecurities. You have to overcome them to reach the other side where your dreams stand waiting for you.

International Women’s Day is almost here. We salute the women who were brave and courageous enough to get past the barriers to make a choice. But these qualities – bravery, and courage cannot stand alone when it comes to making a difference. They need to be in harmony with one another to give you the power to surpass the hurdles and emerge as a winner.

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate those women who harmonised these virtues and held the sword to fight their personal battles and came out with a flag of victory. Today, on International Women’s Day, we will be hearing the inspiring stories of two women – what inspired them, what obstacles they crossed, and how did they celebrate their victory with Tanishq.

“The most courageous fight is never with somebody else, but with yourself”

Everybody has their own battles to fight, they cannot always be gender-centric, but they can be a few personal struggles one has to go through. And sometimes, these struggles can be a product of our own weaknesses, says Noreen.

Noreen considers herself blessed to be raised in a financially stable family that understood her dreams and aspirations. While the world understood the same, she didn’t. Lack of confidence was something she always struggled with. It did not affect her significantly until last summer.

Noreen, a young independent woman in her 20s residing in Dubai, has always aspired to become a jewellery designer. Consequently, she applied for a position at a top-notch firm in UAE and went for an interview. She saw everybody, the fellow applicants for the same job position, but felt threatened. They were highly skilled and had worked with some of the leading brands in the industry. Noreen thought to herself that there was no way she could beat them. And so, she fled without giving the interview.

Until this day, according to her, it was one of the biggest regrets of her life. It took her a while to realise that they were not her competition but she was her own competition. And that she was not supposed to be better than them; she was supposed to be better than her previous self.

Moving ahead, 5 years forward, she is living the dream. She is now a successful jewellery designer working with a renowned jewellery brand in UAE. This was all she ever wanted in life. And what brought her here? Conquering her own fears and realising that she is the best and she deserves what I set my eyes on.

And so, to celebrate herself and International Women’s Day, she bought herself a Tanishq gold ring. To her, it was not just a piece of jewellery; it was a celebration of getting over the fears that hindered her. Here’s what she has to say,

“I personally admire Tanishq. Not only because I admire their bewitching jewellery collection but because their jewellery gives me a way to express myself and celebrate their personal style. It will always be a go-to brand for me.”

“The steering wheel is always in your hand”

Regaining control over your life is something that the brave must do. At least, that is what Afreen learned from her mother.  She considers herself an independent lady who was raised by a much stronger and more confident woman who always put Afreen’s needs on top. After her parents’ divorce, all responsibilities of raising a child fell solely on Afreen’s mother. And as daunting as she imagined the situation, Afreen never saw her mother back down from the challenge. Instead, she put on a brave face and balanced between being an exceptional mother and a career woman.

Even after all these years, her strength and resilience continue to inspire Afreen. And to appreciate all that her mother has done, Afreen thanked her with a gold ring for women last International Women’s Day.

“She was on cloud 9. Tanishq is a brand she has always admired. I had often caught her admiring their styles, lingering on to their ads a little bit longer, but never really wanting to splurge on herself. So, what better gift would have been for her than Tanishq? I still remember the smile she had on her face – it is a picture that will be in my memory for a lifetime.”, says Afreen.
